Good news for Louisiana bartenders.

The Governor of Louisiana announced on Wednesday that those who may not normally qualify for unemployment benefits will now be able to file for financial assistance during the coronavirus pandemic.

With the aid of the federal government, the state of Louisiana is now allowing "gig workers" and bartenders to apply for unemployment benefits.

The Bartender Emergency Assistance Program defines a “Bartender” as an individual employed in serving beverages or otherwise engaged in the production, promotion or distribution of alcoholic beverages.

According to the USGB National Charity Foundation, grants will be made in the form of lump-sum distributions to the recipient, or as determined by the USBG National Charity Foundation's Board of Directors based on the needs of the particular recipient.
