The Innocence Project freed a wrongly convicted Louisiana man who made quite an impression on the May 22 episode of NBC's 'America's Got Talent' television show.

59 year old Archie Williams was incarcerated at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. He was falsely accused of the rape and stabbing of a woman in the Hundred Oaks neighborhood of Baton Rouge in 1983. He was exonerated in March 2019, and told his whole story to the incredulous judges on the show. You can see his audition in the video below.

Williams received a call from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Sir Elton John, praising him on his performance of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" on the show, and they were supposed to meet up in New Orleans. But the pandemic canceled John's 2020 tour. Williams now resides in the New Orleans area.

Well, Williams has another shot at fame, as he will make a return appearance on the talent show on Tuesday, August 4. Williams will join other contestants at 7:00 PM CST on NBC to compete for a cool one million dollar prize. We are sending all our good wishes to Mr Williams for his return to the show. Represent Louisiana well, sir!
