F. Earl Comeaux, founder of Earl's Supermarket on Verot School Road, died earlier this week after a battle with cancer.

According to his obituary, Mr. Earl was a Lafayette High School graduate and had attended Southwest Louisiana Institute and the School of Banking. He was also a veteran, having served in the Louisiana National Guard. Mr. Earl was owner and operator of Earl's Supermarket.  He opened it in 1979, retiring in 2011.

He is survived by his wife (of 40 years), 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Earl was a generous man, assisting many local charities and fundraisers.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Earl's name to Miles Perret Cancer Center at 2130 Kaliste Saloom, Lafayette, LA 70508.
