Lafayette Man Facing Multiple Charges after OWI
A Lafayette man was arrested on a host of new charges Monday and several outstanding warrants for contractor fraud according to the Lafayette City Police Department.
Sergeant Robin Green says that Jose' Omar Cruz-Hernandez was stopped yesterday morning by an officer. According to the booking report, the man was arrested after a traffic crash. It was stated that the man appeared to be intoxicated.
When Hernandez was arrested at the scene, it was found there were outstanding warrants for two separate instances where he was accused of home improvement fraud.
Cruz-Hernandez is alleged to have accepted money for work that he never showed up to do. According to authorities, he would receive a downpayment for the work, but he never came back to do the projects.
The following are the charges he was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for:
- Operating While Intoxicated
- Hit and Run
- Resisting an Officer
- Theft
- Home Improve Fraud
