What looked like a potential blowout in the Southwest Regional championship game in Albuquerque, New Mexico, turned into anything but as Lafayette Little League held on to beat Texas West 8-6.

Lafayette begin the game by plating two runs in the Top of the 1st inning. But Texas West, coming out of the loser's bracket to set up this rematch with Lafayette, scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st.

But in the 2nd inning, Lafayette responded by scoring 3 runs to go up 5-2. They eventually extended that lead to 8-2 in the top of the 6th inning, but then things got interesting as Texas West scored 4 runs to bring their deficit to only 2 runs. But Lafayette would prevail, holding off Texas West and winning by the final 8-6.
