Korn guitarist,
Brian 'Head' Welch, tweeted that it was his cousin's son (making the boy his 2nd cousin) that was being held hostage.

The hostage situation is now over, and the child is safe.

From Inquisitr:

A hostage situation came to an end in Arvada, Colorado on Tuesday after an 18 hour standoff. The suspect has been identified by Arvada police as Don Pooley, a parolee who was on the run with several outstanding warrants. Pooley was shot to death and his teenage hostage was rescued just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Pooley was speaking to his sister on the phone throughout the ordeal. She was outside with police. It seemed there was no getting through to him. He stated,

“Let me try. I just wanna run. If you catch me, good. Then you caught me. If not, then sorry about your luck. Maybe another day.”

Police didn't respond to the demands that he had made, but did request breakfast through his sister. SWAT delivered the breakfast to the doorstep, and took their shot. Pooley was killed immediately, and the hostage was safe. The boy was taken to an ambulance for precautionary measures.
