Jimmy Kimmel Joins Sinister Parents in Annual Hide-Candy-From-Kids Prank
UPDATE (10/4): Because one batch of parent cruelty wasn't delicious enough, Jimmy Kimmel has released a bonus extension of 2016's "Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy" that includes more tears, screams and even a storm-out. Feels like a "Real World" episode! Watch above.
ORIGINAL POST: In 2016, Jimmy Kimmel isn't just a casual observer of his annual parents-hiding-Halloween-candy-from kids challenge — he's a conniving, sinister part of it.
On last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode, the comedian and talk show host aired one of his most popular segments — what he's affectionately come to call "Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy" — and fed adult viewers' annual addiction to watching their kids suffer. Plus, he shared that now that his daughter, Jane, is of trick-or-treating age, he decided to join in on the fun.
"For the first time...I have a trick-or-treater living in my house — my daughter turned two in July," Kimmel begins the segment above. "We dressed her as a monkey last night and we went around the block. She was very excited about the candy...I decided this was the perfect time to tell her I ate all her Halloween candy."
But things don't proceed exactly as planned, and Kimmel can't seem to get a rise out of his little girl, who withholds her feelings as coolly as a seasoned criminal under intense interrogation. After Kimmel shows Jane her emptied-out Halloween bucket, and confesses he ate its contents, she has only one concern:
"It has dirt in it!" she says.
"Jane, you're missing the point," Kimmel insists, as he continues to try to get a rise out of her. But nothing will do the trick — Jane, thanks to her even-handedness, gets the last laugh.
Still, Kimmel didn't disappoint audiences who sought tears and wails, and shared a second clip of many other parents successfully making their kids throw tantrums. Watch and enjoy, you monsters.
