Two Fatal Fires Being Investigated in Louisiana Had Something in Common

(Bastrop, Louisiana) - After two fatal fires this month, State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan Adams noted the two events have something in common.

According to WBRZ, officials were called out to investigate a fire in St. Helena Parish on Pat Lane, they found a structure that was fully consumed by fire.

Even though identity and cause of death are still pending at this time, they do believe the victim of the Saturday, November 2 fire was the 86-year-old female homeowner.

Myarklamiss.com reported on Monday, November 4, Bastrop firefighters were called out to a home in the 1500 block of King Avenue to fight a blaze there. One man who lived in the home was able to escape the flames. He told firefighters that his 71-year-old brother was still inside of the burning home. Firefighters later found the body in one of the bedrooms.

What Was Common Between The Two Louisiana Fires?

Chief Adams says they are still determining the exact cause of each of these fires noting that both scenes had something in common. Neither home had working smoke alarms. He points out that a working smoke alarm can save your life.
