Louisiana and much of the country have fallen in love with Troy Landry and his family, and he was reportedly cited while out hunting alligators.

WAFB reports that the star from the hit television show "Swamp People" was cited while he and others were out hunting alligators in St. Mary Parish.

Someone reported to The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries that an alligator hunter had been fishing on the water where they did not have permission to be and that is when authorities began to stake out the area.

According to the news station's report, authorities spotted Landry and others in the boat and that is when they approached them. Upon further investigation, they were able to determine that Troy Landry did indeed have permission to hunt the area, but other problems arose during the investigation.

WAFB says in their report on this incident that Landry allegedly did not have the proper alligator tags to hunt in that area. If you've ever watched "Swamp People" you may have heard that tags are issued to hunters by the LDWF and that tags are assigned to specific hunting areas, and Landry did not have the proper tags for the area where he was hunting.

In addition to the tag issue, Landry told the agents that he cut a dead alligator from a line and that he let it float away. The agents investigating the matter found the alligator floating in the water and it reportedly had the same type of lines Landry was using at that time.

According to the Baton Rouge news station, the reality television star received the following citations: One for having an improperly tagged alligator, and the other was for the dead alligator found floating in the water.

WAFB says, "The charges each carry a potential fine of up to $950 and the possibility of imprisonment of up to 120 days."
