Tragic Louisiana Crash Takes Life of Another Motorcyclist
According to Louisiana law enforcement officials, a collision between a motorcyclist and a car claimed the life of the motorcycle operator.
On Wednesday evening, February 26, a two-vehicle collision ended up claiming the life of a 33-year-old man, according to the Rayne Police Department.
Rayne PD officials say Blake Jordan Hollier of Rayne was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed on the westbound side of West Branche Street, heading towards Fourth Street.
Officials say another vehicle was traveling east on West Branche Street in Rayne and, while slowing down to turn onto Fourth Street, collided with Hollier's motorcycle. The impact was made on the passenger's side.
Hollier's injuries were extensive, and the coroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene. As is standard in fatality cases, toxicology samples were taken and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police lab for testing.
The driver of the other vehicle, according to police, showed no signs of impairment and did do a breath test. Officers say no alcohol was detected as being present with the driver. That driver also gave a sample of blood for a toxicology examination, which the State Police lab will also analyze. Both the driver and passenger were buckled up, and neither had injuries.
While officials with Rayne Police have released this preliminary information about the crash, they say the investigation continues.
