Traffic at Standstill on Basin Bridge Near Whiskey Bay, Louisiana

WHISKEY BAY, La. (KPEL News) - Roadwork on I-10 just outside of Henderson is causing a major backup on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge all the way back past Whiskey Bay.

A look at traffic maps indicates the worst of the stoppage is right over the Whiskey Bay Channel.

Traffic cameras along the interstate show a definite backup.

The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge is notorious for incidents causing major back-ups that keeps traffic at a standstill for hours. The current issue appears to be roadwork being along I-10 just before you get to Henderson, Louisiana.

Motorists are being advised to use caution in the area while driving, and you can expect more delays as roadwork along I-10 continues. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development regularly posts updates for upcoming roadwork throughout the state.
