Texas Lottery Reveals Powerball Wins on Wednesday
It's hot in Texas. Sure you could make that statement about the weather in Houston, Beaumont, Del Rio, Dallas, or just about any other location where the Lone Star flag flies proudly. But, in this case, we are talking about a different kind of "hot". Texas has been a hotbed for lottery wins over the past few weeks. And, Wednesday's Powerball drawing did nothing to cool off the onslaught of big-money wins.
The Powerball multi-state lottery did get a jackpot winner in its Monday night drawing. So the jackpot for Wednesday evening was at the game's starting level of $20 million. There was no jackpot winner in that drawing but as we alluded to, there were some big wins in Texas.
Here is how the drawing played out:
The numbers that rolled out of the hopper in "America's Favorite Jackpot Game" for Wednesday, June 12, 2024, were:
19 30 31 61 62 Powerball 21 Power Plax x2
Use those numbers for reference but please verify your tickets by visiting the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites can not only help you check multiple tickets at a time but can direct you in claiming your winnings should you have tickets that earn prizes.
Our source in Austin at the Texas Lottery tells us there were two tickets sold in the state that earned "big-money" prizes. We call any win over $10,000 "big-money". Both tickets matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. By rule, the prize is $50,000 which is what one of the tickets earned.
The second ticket invoked the Power Play options which multiplied the winnings by two, so that ticket is worth $100,000 this morning. The Powerball jackpot will now climb to an estimated $34 million when the next drawing is held on Saturday night. The estimated lump sum payout on that prize would be $16 million.
If you need a cool $26.5 million instantly you might try your luck at the Texas Lottery Lotto Texas with Extra game. That game will hold its next drawing on June 15th with a top prize of $26.5 million. Last night's Lotto Texas game didn't produce a jackpot winner but six tickets sold for that game earned a prize of $11,908.
While it's fun to talk and write about big wins in lottery games the reality is that those big wins are few and far between. Most lottery tickets are not winners so if you choose to play be responsible and don't spend more than you can afford to lose. If you need help with a gambling problem call 1-800-GAMBLER.
