Texas Lottery Confirms Big Wins Monday Night
For Texas Lottery players the Powerball promised land isn't that far away. Now, you might be asking, what exactly is the "promised land" when it comes to a multi-state lottery game? That would be a fair question. The kind of question that players in Lufkin or Tyler might ask. Or perhaps they'd want to know more about this "ascension" to better lottery living in Palestine, Borger, or Mexia, Texas.
The "Powerball promised land" is a phrase we've coined in our reporting on the Texas Lottery that means the game's top prize has reached a jackpot point of more than half a billion dollars. We've found through our years of reporting on the lottery that $500 million is when "occasional" Powerball players start to purchase tickets on a regular basis.
As of last night's drawing, Monday, October 7, 2024, the Powerball jackpot was still a few million short of that promised land but the jackpot total is continuing to grow. Here's how Monday's drawing in the Powerball Lottery game went.
Monday's estimated annuitized jackpot for Powerball was listed at $319 million. The lump sum or cash payout for a winning ticket in that drawing would have paid you $156.9. But there were no tickets sold across the Powerball footprint that matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize.
Our sources at Powerball did confirm a ticket sold in Illinois earned a Match 5 Million prize with the Power Play option, so that prize is listed at $2 million. Our sources at the Texas Lottery in Austin confirmed no big wins across the state for Monday's game.
The largest prize awarded to a Texas ticket in Powerball was $200. Eight tickets in the state earned that prize. Another 27 tickets earned a prize of $100 and according to the Texas Lottery, 33,770 tickets sold for Powerball in Texas earned a prize of at least $4.
The numbers that were drawn for Monday's game were:
18 30 31 52 63 Powerball 22 Power Play x2
You may verify your numbers at the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Please do that before you attempt to cash in on any prize you feel you may have won.
The other big draw game in Texas on Monday night was Lotto Texas with Extra! That game's jackpot is now listed at $27.25 million. That's how much a ticket that matches all the numbers can earn on Wednesday night. However, on Monday there were more big wins in Lotto Texas with Extra! than there were with Powerball.
Lotto Texas paid $11,630 on five tickets from Monday's game and another $1,630 to eleven other tickets drawn for last night. I think Lotto Texas with Extra! is due to get a winner. And your next opportunity to be that big winner will come on Wednesday night if you choose to play.
Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing in Texas will offer a top prize of $129 million for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum payout is estimated to be $62.3 million.
