“You may be asking yourself… have I heard of Smalls Sliders," said Smalls Sliders franchisee Rob Carter, who is a co-owner with Todd Touchet and Jonathan "JP" Perry. "The answer is yes, and now you’re about to taste it closer to home and across the street from McNeese State right here in Lake Charles."

“Our attention-grabbing Smorange Can is not only going to stand out visually as a pillar of our community but become part of our daily routines," he added. "From celebrating our local friends and neighbors to sponsoring local events and more. We can’t wait to say ‘Thanks for Slidin’-Thru!’”

According to a press release from the chain, "Smalls Sliders is one of the fastest-growing brands in the restaurant industry, specializing exclusively in fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders that are small in size but big in taste."

The brand is based out of Atlanta, Georgia, and made its first Louisiana appearance in Baton Rouge. It has since expanded along south Louisiana, hitting Lafayette and now Lake Charles.

Honoring Smalls Town Heroes

At the Can Drop, which is the brand's version of breaking ground on a new location, Smalls will officially recognize and name two star McNeese State University basketball players, Antavion Collum and Christian Shumate, as Smalls Town Heroes for their positive contributions to the Lake Charles community.

"Antavion is inspiring the next generation of leaders through his volunteer work as a basketball coach at summer camps and tournaments, partnering with Toys for Tots and regularly supporting Mid-South Food Bank," the company said in a release. "Christian connects with the Lake Charles community through jersey signings, mentoring younger children and participating in summer camps. During the holiday season, he also helps with Christmas shopping for underprivileged children."

More Louisiana Locations Coming?

When you check out Smalls' site, you'll see that the chain has a lot of locations in Louisiana. Aside from Lafayette and Baton Rouge, there are locations in Denham Springs, Marerro, Metarie, and others. But, it appears several more are on the way.

More 'can drops' are coming soon - including another Lafayette location, one in Alexandria, and another in Shreveport.

Smalls Has Big Louisiana Ties

Smalls Sliders is the brainchild of restaurateur visionary Brandon Landry, an LSU grad who also founded Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux. It also has the backing of former NFL star Drew Brees as an investor. So while it may be based out of Georgia, it is definitely a Louisiana product.

It's proven to be a big hit in Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
