Ruby Slipper Announces Official Opening Date for Lafayette Location
Lafayette, the wait is almost over! Ruby Slipper, a brunch fave with New Orleans roots, has announced its official opening date. The new location at 4701 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, next to Jersey Mike’s and Jet Coffee, will open its doors on Tuesday, January 21.d
But, I gotta be honest. Ruby Slipper isn’t just another brunch option—it’s one of those food spots with heart and history. Founded in 2008 by Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt, the first Ruby Slipper was created in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood as a way to help rebuild the community after Hurricane Katrina. Over the years, it’s grown into a place where people gather over good food, stirring up our variety of Southern hospitality with a menu inspired by NOLA flavor.
The Lafayette location features 4,000 square feet of dining space and a 1,300-square-foot covered patio, making it a welcoming spot for everything from family brunches to casual meetups.
The menu includes crowd favorites like shrimp & grits, sweet heat chicken & French toast, and scratch-made biscuits, along with cocktails like the Ruby mimosa and bourbon milk punch.
Oh, and they've got mocktails that are just as good as the real thing, too.
The grand opening will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on January 21, hosted in partnership with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. Ruby Slipper will also donate a portion of opening day proceeds to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, supporting hunger relief efforts across the region.
We’re excited to welcome Ruby Slipper to Lafayette, and they told me that they're just as excited to bring their signature brunch experience to Acadiana. Whether you’re a longtime fan or trying it for the first time, January 21 is your perfect day to stop by and check it out.
