LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) - On Thursday afternoon in Lafayette, a vehicle was reportedly driven directly into Dollar Tree's front entrance in the shopping center near Walmart on Pinhook.

Lafayette Police are currently responding to the scene, so we are still waiting for details about the cause of this particular incident.

A post was made by Naomi Sheumaker on a Facebook group to alert people of the accident.

In the photos, you can see that both The Lafayette police and fire department have responded to the accident located at 120 Production Dr. Ste 5, Lafayette, LA 70508.

While it may seem odd that such crashes can happen, the truth is that it can and does happen more often than one might think. One research study showed that "the leading causes of these crashes are operator error and pedal error, which account for 30 percent and 26 percent of these crashes, respectively."
