
Multiple Fatalities Reported in Mississippi Helicopter Crash
MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (KPEL News) - A helicopter crash in Madison County, Mississippi during the middle of the day on Monday, March 10, 2025, has resulted in multiple fatalities, according to reports.
The crash was reported around 12:30 pm near Highway 43 and the Natchez Trace Parkway in the central part of the state. The crash was in a heavily wooded area.
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, it was a medical helicopter that went down in the woods.
Officials said there were fatalities but did not go into detail as they were waiting for the arrival of the Federal Aviation Authority.
A Madison County spokesperson confirmed deaths from the crash and said, "We are on the scene of a medical helicopter crash in a heavily wooded area south of the Natchez Trace and North of Pipeline Road. There are fatalities. We are now awaiting the arrival of the FAA. Any other information should come from them."
The University of Mississippi Medical Center released a memo and stated that two UMMC employee crew members and a Med-Trans pilot were on board. Additionally, they said no patient was aboard.
According to FlightAware, the helicopter left St. Dominic Hospital at 12:09 pm and disappeared from the radar at approximately 12:36 pm.
The helicopter was in the air for a total of 27 minutes before it crashed. The helicopter's destination is unknown at this time.
