Most Texans on Tuesday night spent their time like a lot of folks did across the rest of the country. They were trying to stay warm. And now the weather forecasters are saying cities such as Dallas, Denton, Sherman, Dennison, Tyler, Longview, and Mount Pleasant might be shivering under a blanket of snow and ice by the time the next Mega Millions drawing rolls around on Friday night.

But I think most of us have learned that snow and ice storms in Texas are a lot like wins for the Dallas Cowboys football team, they don't always happen as predicted. But what we do know is that ahead of the potential wintry weather in parts of the state the Texas Lottery will keep our dreams of instant wealth stoked with a chance to win a lot of money in games like Tuesday night's Mega Millions lottery.

If you didn't see the drawing, here's how it played out.

Based on knowledge from our sources at Mega Millions, no single ticket purchased for Tuesday's drawing matched the numbers needed to claim the game's estimated top prize of $62 million last night.

There was a Match 5 Million winner in Tuesday's drawing. That ticket was sold in Michigan so if you played Mega Millions in Texas, I don't think you'll be lighting the fireplace with $100 bills this morning. But at least a couple of Texans might be able to start their fires with one-dollar bills.

Tuesday's Mega Millions draw created an old-fashioned "Texas Two-Fer". Not to be confused with another great game from the Texas Lottery, Texas Two Step. By the way, Texas Two Step makes winners, a lot of winners. You might want to look into that one.

Based on information supplied by the Texas Lottery we do know there were two tickets sold in Texas for Tuesday's Mega Millions game that matched four of five white balls and the Mega Ball. One of those tickets is worth $10,000 this morning. The other is worth $20,000.

Here are the numbers from Tuesday night.

20   24   33   39   48   Mega Ball 18   Megaplier x2

Pretty easy to see why one winning ticket earned double the amount for the same scenario. The Megaplier can make such a huge difference in just how big your Mega Millions prize can be.

Speaking of winning, if you think you won something you need to verify your ticket at the Official Mega Millions site or the Official Texas Lottery site. Those are the sites of record and have all the details of how to claim any prize you've won.

Meanwhile, Wednesday's attention will shift to Powerball in Texas with a top prize of $240 million. The other big draw game played on Wednesdays is Lotto Texas with Extra! The top prize in that game is estimated to be $65 million. Oh, and Friday's Mega Millions jackpot will climb to an estimated $77 million.
