Mega Millions, Texas Lottery Confirm Tuesday Win – Jackpot Was $681 Million
Texas Lottery players love to dream. The prospect of winning instant millions is something that is pondered from Dalhart to Denton and Muleshoe to Montgomery. Last night the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game held its Tuesday drawing. At stake was a jackpot of $681 million, before taxes. A winning ticket from Tuesday could purchase the most expensive home in Texas ten times over.
By the way that's not the house in Texas, that's Kelly Clarkson's house. The most expensive house in Texas is way nicer than Kelly's crib. But if you won Mega Millions you could probably buy that too.
But so that you understand just how much money the Mega Millions jackpot is the current "most expensive" real estate listing in Texas according to Mansion Global is the Lodge at Hunter's Creek just outside of Houston that's valued at roughly $65 million. Yeah, if you won Mega Millions last night you could have that house times ten. See, it's fun to dream about being rich, isn't it?
Before we call the moving trucks we better see how Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing actually played out. Here is how it looked when the ping pong balls came bounding out of the hopper at 10 pm on September 3, 2024.
Based on that drawing we can confirm some bad news and some "well at least that's something" news. You've probably figured out the bad news is that you didn't win the Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday. But then again neither did anyone else so the jackpot will be even higher when the game holds its next drawing on Friday night.
We did learn via our sources at Mega Millions that two tickets sold in Tuesday's game were Match 5 Million winners. Those tickets matched all five of the white balls but not the Mega Ball. Those high-dollar winners were sold in Kansas and in Michigan.
Can you believe that there are 18 states within the Mega Millions footprint that have never sold a jackpot winner? Mega Millions jackpots are nothing new for Texas players though. Lone Star lottery players have won a Mega Millions jackpot on 14 different occasions.
While the jackpot money is staying put, there were some winning tickets sold in Texas for Tuesday's drawing. Our sources at the Texas Lottery confirmed seven tickets sold in the Lone Star State won a prize of $10,000 or more. Three tickets won that exact amount while two other tickets engaged the Megaplier feature of the Mega Millions game to win $40,000.
If you'd like to check your tickets the numbers we saw rolling out of the hopper on Tuesday night were:
12 41 43 52 55 Mega Ball 09 Megaplier x4
We encourage you to verify your tickets via the Official Mega Millions Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites can help you review multiple tickets and offer information on prize redemption. Game officials with Mega Millions are estimating that when the game draws again on Friday night the top prize will be $740 million for the annuity or $366.3 million for the lump sum payout.
Tonight's Powerball game will offer you another chance to become an instant millionaire. Texas has had many more jackpot winners in Powerball but we have been playing that game longer in Texas than we have been playing Mega Millions. The top prize in Powerball for tonight is estimated to be $93 million for the annuity with a lump sum payout estimated at $45.9 million.
The drawing in the Powerball game is scheduled for 10 p.m. tonight. If you choose to play Powerball or any lottery games remember there is a good chance you will lose your investment. If you have a gambling problem help is available and it can start with a free phone call to 1-800-GAMBLER the call and the referrals are free. But it will be up to you to take the first step. Good Luck.
