NEW IBERIA, La. (KPEL News) - A Tuesday night shooting in the Morbihan neighborhood left one dead and investigators searching for a cause.

Iberia Parish detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Crofton Street, just outside of New Iberia, Louisiana. The investigation started after Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a call around 10 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a deceased male. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigation was brought in to conduct an investigation, which is ongoing.

Tragedy on Mardi Gras

South Louisiana is reeling from more than one violent incident that took place on Mardi Gras.

The City of Mamou is still investigating a fatal shooting that happened during a Chris Ardoin performance on Tuesday.

According to the most recent reporting, two were dead in the Tuesday shooting, both of whom were juveniles. Others were injured, and there is one person of interest in custody.
