The Acadia Parish Police Jury is set to vote tonight on an ordinance that could determine the fate of a proposed swingers club in the small town of Branch, Louisiana. The controversial establishment, named Fantasies Lifestyle Club, has sparked intense debate among residents and officials for months now.

According to KLFY News 10, the Police Jury initially planned to vote on the matter in November but postponed the decision. The meeting will now take place at 6 p.m. at the Acadia Parish Courthouse in Crowley, where community members are expected to gather to voice their opinions.

During a previous public meeting, nearly 100 residents shared their views on the proposed club. Opinions ranged from staunch opposition to cautious support, though many residents in the parish remained deeply divided on the issue.

Linda Conroy, a local resident, expressed shock at the club's potential location. “It’s shocking to me,” Conroy said during the meeting. “The parish has strict restrictions on bars and other businesses, so why would they allow something like this to take place?”

Others, like Santana Brown from nearby Church Point, took a more open-minded stance. “I believe everybody should be able to live their life the way they want to, as long as it’s not harming anyone else,” Brown said.

However, some residents fear the club could negatively impact the community. Cera Prince voiced concerns about potential social consequences, stating, “It opens the door to a lot of other things like drug use becoming the norm, and it’s just against God.”

Those in support argue the club represents an opportunity for adults to "explore alternative lifestyles in a private, consensual manner." Those against the club worry about its potential negative influence on the local area and the dangerous precedent it could set.

As the Police Jury prepares to vote, tonight’s meeting is expected to draw a significant crowd.

Many will be watching closely and in the meantime, catch up with the latest updates here via KLFY News 10.
