Hey y’all, quick reminder for April Fool’s Day.

We’ve been seeing it for years now: someone posts a fake “I’m pregnant!” status, the comments roll in, and by the end of the day—surprise—it was a joke.

We get it. April Fool’s is all about pranks. And yeah, everyone has a different sense of humor. But here’s the thing—this particular joke? It’s been done a million times, and more importantly, it can actually hurt people.

We've got a solid decade plus of reactions to this particular April Fool's joke to prove that rue

According to the CDC, about 1 in 6 couples deal with infertility. That’s a lot of people. Some are trying everything from IVF to medications. Some are grieving losses. And most of the time, they won’t say anything when they see those jokes. They’ll just scroll and feel that little sting. Maybe they sigh. Maybe they cry. Maybe they just go quiet.

Does that mean you can’t joke around on April 1st? Of course not. But there are way better jokes out there—ones that don’t punch down or hit people in a soft spot you might not even know they have.

Nobody’s here to cancel you or shame you. We’re just saying... if you were thinking about going that route, maybe just don’t. You’re funny enough to come up with something better.

And if this post helps even *one* person pause before posting, then that’s a win.

Have a fun, harmless April Fool’s Day—leave the fake baby bumps out of it.
