Louisiana law enforcement responded to a heartbreaking crash that happened on Louisiana Highway 308 after a motorcycle ended up off of the roadway and was determined to have died at a hospital after being transferred there.

Louisiana State Police Trooper First Class Tiah Larvadain with the Public Affairs Section says that as 68-year-old Raymond Guidry was driving south down Louisiana Highway 308 near Emile Road, he lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

As the preliminary investigation is started, officials have yet to determine what caused Guidry to go off of the roadway, but it led to his tragic death.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Guidry Road off of the highway on the right side of the road, and he ended up being thrown from the motorcycle. Larvadin says investigators say Guidry was wearing the required DOT-approved helmet.

The man was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, but he later was pronounced dead at the health facility.

As is routine in a fatality case, officials collected blood samples from Guidry, and they will be turned over to officials at the crime lab for analysis. Larvadin says troopers are continuing to investigate the single-vehicle crash to determine what caused Guidry to lose control in that curve of the highway.

Louisiana State Police officials remind all drivers about the following:

  • Make sure to avoid any distractions while driving.
  • Never drive when you are experiencing fatigue.
  • Impaired driving is against the law.
  • Paying attention to what is happening on the roadways at all times can prevent crashes.
