(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Lafayette Police were able to make an arrest in a case from May where a man called police after he woke up to his girlfriend stabbing him.

According to Lafayette Police Department spokeswoman Sergeant Robin Green 25-year-old Dorothy Watkins is accused of stabbing her boyfriend multiple times in the head and his back. Eventually, the woman ran out of the apartment in the 1500 block of Louisiana Avenue.

Officials say the alleged stabbing incident happened at around 2:30 on the morning of Friday, May 24. The man was stabbed in his back and also had stab wounds on his head.

Lafayette detectives were assigned to the case and eventually were able to get a warrant for Attempted First-Degree Murder for Watkins.

She was located just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, and taken into custody. She was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
