The Serenity Drive Bridge, located just 0.30 miles west of Bonin Road, will be closed to traffic starting today, October 23, at 2:00 p.m., following an emergency order by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). The Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Traffic, Roads, and Bridges Department announced the closure is necessary to allow urgent repairs and replacement work on the bridge.

The bridge is set to be replaced with a box culvert, a process expected to take approximately one year to complete. While this extensive timeline may cause disruptions, officials are prioritizing local access to reduce the impact on daily travel for nearby residents.

For those living east of the bridge, access will remain available via Bonin Road. Residents located north of the bridge can continue to access the area by taking the Hunter’s Run connection to Serenity Drive from Chemin Metairie Road.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during the closure and to exercise caution when driving in the vicinity. Authorities will be providing updates on the project's progress as necessary.

For more information or updates on the closure, residents can log on to the Lafayette Consolidated Government website.
