UPDATE:

Sergeant Robin Green with the Lafayette Police Department confirmed to us that no one was home at the time of the crash.

Thankfully, Green confirms no one was injured, but the car was so far inside the home that only the trunk of the car was visible when officers got to the scene.

Green says Adam Hebert was arrested on OWI First Offense.

It was a very rough night for one homeowner who lives in the Saint Streets area in Lafayette after a car drove into a house.

According to officials with the Lafayette Police Department, a car was driven into a home located on the 600 block of St. Thomas Street at around 12:30 Thursday morning. Police cruisers and a fire truck raced to the scene last night.

No fatalities happened as a result of the car crashing into the home. Information regarding the incident is still being collected. There is currently a traffic light malfunction at St. Thomas and St. Landry Street.

Details regarding how the driver ended up plowing into the home as well as the current condition of the house that was damaged due to the vehicle smashing into it have not been released.
