Attention Texas Shoppers: Walmart Exec Hints ‘Good News’ Coming

Have you ever stopped to consider just how many Walmart stores there are in Texas? Think for a moment how many total retail units do you think the world's largest retailer operates in cities like Denton, Dallas, Humble, Beaumont, Orange, and others?

If you guessed 594 then you're either very lucky, very astute in making guesses, or you work for Walmart. That's because 594 is the exact number on the money. Of those 594 retail locations in Texas, 391 of the stores are Supercenters and 82 of them are Sam's Club locations.

Visiting a Walmart store is kind of like the conundrum of Heaven, everybody wants to go, but nobody wants to go now. That makes sense. A trip to Walmart is never "fun" but it's not as big of a pain in the butt as we make it out to be. So I am sure a little good news would be welcomed at this point.

Attention Walmart Shoppers, you've probably heard that in a store a time or two but this time it is Walmart CFO John David Rainey who is garnering all the attention today. In speaking with reporters during an interview earlier this month Rainey hinted that Walmart was about to make a move that many Texas families have been praying for.

According to Rainey, Walmart has a plan in place to lower prices on groceries. The retail giant has announced an aggressive program that would roll back food and grocery prices to "pre-inflation" levels.

Rainey also noted that Walmart will also be increasing its private label brands. Often times these brands are of similar or better quality than national brands and are offered to shoppers at a much lower price. The chain also has plans to improve and expand its grocery delivery service. But we're pretty sure the price on that is going to remain steady as it is a "growth" area for the company.

So the good news is that Walmart, and you can expect Target to follow suit, will begin rolling back prices on grocery items making the cost of feeding your family a little bit more tolerable. At least, that's the plan. Let's hope it works out for all of us.
