NEW IBERIA, La. – Authorities in Iberia Parish have made multiple arrests in connection with the theft of headstone markers from the graves of U.S. military veterans.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office (IPSO), in partnership with the New Iberia Police Department, launched an investigation after discovering that several grave markers had been stolen from cemeteries within the city and parish. Investigators identified multiple individuals suspected of stealing or possessing the stolen headstones.

Arrests Made

  • Kody Paul Myers – Charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Bond set at $250,000.
  • Makayla Naquin – Charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Bond set at $50,000.
  • Hannah Leah Guidry – Charged with two counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Bond has not yet been set.
  • Troy Anthony Primeaux – Charged with two counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Bond set at $100,000.

Suspects Still Wanted

  • Richard Paul Brower – Wanted on two counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things.
  • Kevin Ray Espinoza – Wanted on one count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things.

Sheriff Tommy Romero condemned the crime, calling it a “profound act of disrespect” toward the veterans and their families.

“Our veterans made the ultimate sacrifice, and their resting places should be treated with the highest level of honor and dignity. This investigation remains active, and we will continue to pursue all leads until justice is served.” – Sheriff Tommy Romero
