Texas Lottery Confirms Unique Mega Millions Win Saturday
It was a typical Texas Friday night last night. There was a lot of action under the lights as communities from Wimberly to Dripping Springs and Ennis to Laredo the throngs came out to support their favorite high schools and cheer on the winners. And about the time those football games were wrapping up the Texas Lottery and the Mega Millions game were making winners of their own.
Incidentally, if you'd like to see how your favorite or least favorite high school team did in Friday Night Football, we have that for you here. And about the Mega Millions game we can set that up for you too.
The last time there was a jackpot winner in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game it was September 10th of this year. The jackpot on that day was $800 million and the winning ticket was purchased by a player in Texas. Friday night's top prize in Mega Millions was far from that number.
Here's how Friday night's October 25, 2024 drawing played out.
When the ping pong balls dropped the estimated jackpot prize was $229 million for the annuity and $107.5 million for the lump sum. However, no one will be tasked with choosing either of those options since our sources at Mega Millions have confirmed there was no jackpot winner.
Our Mega Millions insider did tell us that last night's game produced a bit of an anomaly. There were two Match 5 Million winners and both tickets were sold in Missouri. We've reached out to the Missouri Lottery to see if it was just a coincidence or if perhaps two members of the same family played the same numbers. Sometimes strange things happen in lottery games.
Our sources at Mega Millions did confirm as did the Texas Lottery that a ticket sold in Texas earned a prize of $10,000. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Mega Ball but did not have the Megaplier option in play. But there was another player who did opt in for the Megaplier. That ticket is worth $20,000 this morning.
We should note that the Louisiana Lottery verified a ticket sold in Shreveport, Louisiana at Thrifty Liquors #4 on Greenwood Road was also a big winner. So if you strayed when you played into Louisiana, you might want to revisit those numbers. Speaking of the numbers.
Here are the numbers from Friday's Mega Millions drawing:
23 26 35 41 43 Megaball 07 Megaplier x2
You'll want to verify those numbers at the Official Mega Millions Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites will also have details on prize redemption should you be fortunate enough to claim one.
The next drawing in the Mega Millions Game will be on Tuesday. The estimated jackpot will be $250 million for the annuity or $117.3 for the lump sum payment. Meanwhile, Powerball starts over with a new jackpot prize tonight. The game got a winner earlier this week. A single ticket sold in Georgia matched the numbers needed to claim a $478 million prize on Wednesday.
Tonight's Powerball jackpot will be $20 million. The Lotto Texas with Extra! game will also have a drawing tonight. The top prize in that game is $33.5 million.
