Everyone in Louisiana starts to get that itch to go to the beach once summer rolls around. Louisiana beaches get a bad rap, but this one in particular has so much to offer.

Look no further if you don't feel like hauling the entire family five hours away for a beach vacation. Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, Louisiana, surprisingly has a white sandy beach, which is the perfect place to watch the sunset after a long day of enjoying the beautiful scenery with your family or loved ones.

The state park stretches for 2,800 acres along Lake Pontchartrain. There is something to do for every kind of beachgoer. A white sand beach for sun bathers, scenic routes for cyclists and walkers, and hiking and in-line skating, and even a water playground.

Don't forget about the nature trail, the perfect adventure if you enjoy bird watching. Over 400 different species of animals live around the state park.

Visitors who find themselves exhausted after a long day of activities can stay overnight at the campground or in one of their lakefront cabins.

The website of Fontainebleau State Park provides more information on booking, activities, and the history of the Park.
