Here’s How You Can (Literally) Let Trader Joe’s Know You Want a Location Here in Lafayette
The Lafayette area has been teased with a never-ending April fool’s joke about certain chain businesses coming to the area. I will never forget the P.F. Chang’s tease from Developing Lafayette, which was a major upset for all locals, myself included.
The worst tease of them all is easily Trader Joe's. Absolutely no shade to any of the local grocers that currently keep us stocked year-round but the sheer amount of people who have been fiending for this popular store to open a location here is unmatched.

Trader Joe's would not replace Rouses or Albertsons by any means. It's more of a place you go for very specific items you can't get anywhere else, kinda like how many people use Costco to stock up on specific exclusives. Back in April, the Lafayette area was starting to get serious looks from Trader Joe's on possibly making our grocery store dreams come true right here in Acadiana.
What’s The Trader Joes Hype All About
I am still doing research on why Trader Joe's peanut butter tastes better but that's not the only reason people make the drive across the basin to Baton Rouge. They hand-select all their fairly priced groceries to provide a somewhat exclusive shopping experience that brings fans of the store back every week.
Party Planning Made Easy
In case you still need some convincing, Trader Joe's is the place to pick up ingredients for quick, easy, and affordable meals or endless grab-and-go appetizers that are available in their frozen section. The thing you always hear people say is that their groceries are so much cheaper than “normal” grocery stores which makes it the perfect place to grab everything you need to build a charcuterie board, especially with all the parties down here in south Louisiana.
How You Can Help Bring Trader Joe's to Town
I don’t know about you, but personally, making the trip to Baton Rouge for Trader Joe's is worth dealing with the Basin Bridge but it is not ideal or convenient. The good news is that you can actively help get Trader Joe's to Lafayette by using the link below to fill out a request form as frequently as you want to request one in our area. Lauren on Facebook said they were actually “reported for spam” because they filled out the request form too many times. Honestly, if that’s what it takes to get Trader Joe's in our neck of the woods I am so here for it.
