Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has officially lifted the Boil Water Advisory for residents and businesses in the West Bayou Parkway area. The advisory, issued as a precaution following a water line break earlier this week, is no longer in effect.

LUS, working in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Health-Office of Public Health, collected and tested water samples from the affected area. These samples have now been cleared, confirming that the water is safe for consumption and normal use.

As a safety measure, LUS advises customers in the affected area to take the following steps now that the advisory has been lifted:

- Dispose of the next three batches of ice from your ice makers to ensure any potentially contaminated water is removed.
- Run your empty dishwasher one time on the hottest or sanitize setting to clear any residual contaminants.
- Unscrew faucet aerators, run the water for 5 minutes, then clean and reinstall the aerator to ensure clean, fresh water is flowing through your taps.

LUS thanks its customers for their patience and cooperation during this advisory and remains committed to providing high-quality, safe utility services. Residents are encouraged to visit the LUS website or contact their customer service department for further updates or questions.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
