(KMDL-FM) A name synonymous with good food, good times, and great sports fans, Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux has announced the closure of at least two locations across its Gulf Coast footprint. The locations that quietly closed on June 1st were in Louisiana and Alabama.

The news of these closures suggests things are not well in the world of sports bars. The chain has also closed stores in Pensacola, Florida, Opelika, Alabama, and Las Vegas, Nevada, since 2023.

Walk-On's Has Opened New Locations Amid the Closures

Now, to be fair, the chain has also opened new stores in recent months. In 2025, a Walk-On's was opened in Madison, Alabama. That brought the chain's presence in Alabama to seven stores, and in July of 2025, Walk-On's opened its 21st restaurant in its home state of Louisiana.

You can currently find Walk-On's in all of Louisiana's major cities. In the Lafayette area, there is a Walk-On's in Lafayette and one in Carencro. There is also a location in Lake Charles, as well as stores in Shreveport and Bossier City. The chain operated a store in Broussard, Louisiana, in the Lafayette area, but that location closed in February 2025.

A quick query into why Walk-On's is making these adjustments suggests corporate restructuring to get a better grip on current financial issues is the main catalyst behind the closures of certain underperforming locations.

The brand has also been affected by the notion that its prices are too high and have risen dramatically over the past few years. Other online reviews point to inconsistent service, most likely caused by understaffing. Many other restaurants have faced that scenario as well.

Which Walk-On's Locations Were Shuttered on June 1, 2026?

As we mentioned, the chain closed two stores, according to reports on traditional and social media sites on June 1st. Those closures were in Mobile, Alabama, and it appears as though the Slidell, Louisiana, location is closed as well.

Now, if you're looking for some places that are open and come highly recommended, take a gander at this.
