Louisiana loves its games of chance and casino gambling. You learn to be a gambler when you spend a lot of your life living below sea level in a state that is prone to hurricanes and storm surges. And while most of us won't gamble when it comes to the health and safety of our families or our property we do enjoy dropping a coin in a slot machine or maybe sitting down at a Blackjack table.

Naturally, Louisiana has its share of great casino gaming action. Our state offers games of chance to players in four federally-approved Native American casinos and some 43 other state-licensed casinos. And then there are the out-of-state casinos, namely along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Mississippi Coast Casinos are a travel destination for many Louisiana vacationers. The resorts are close by. They offer all the excitement and gaming action of Las Vegas. And, there is the beach. Granted it's the Mississippi Gulf Coast and not all of that beach is best for bathing but there are certainly some great spots to chill after the thrill of winning, or losing, big at one of the gaming facilities that dot the coastline.

Golden Nugget Biloxi Announces $1 Million Dollar Amenity is Coming

The casino industry was really hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, in the months and now years that the world has learned to live with COVID-19 casino gaming has made a robust return. However, at Golden Nugget in Biloxi, one of the staples of casino vacationing will not be coming back. Namely, the buffet.

During the pandemic, the buffet went away at Golden Nugget Biloxi. And, while many casinos have brought the buffet back Golden Nugget is opting to team up with DraftKings to create a high-tech retail sportsbook area. This facility will take up a large amount of the space that was once occupied by the buffet.

Those close to the project say the new Golden Nugget Biloxi/DraftKings space should be open and ready for wagers before the NFL Playoffs and Superbowl. In the meantime, the current betting sportsbook and wagering kiosks will remain functional.
