The Wharf in Orange Beach Expanding – Louisiana Here’s What’s New
From the time school is dismissed in places like Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, and Broussard, Louisiana until the first few weeks of football season are in the books there is a steady stream of traffic between La. and L.A. You probably figured out the first La. was Louisiana the second L.A. isn't Los Angeles, it's Lower Alabama. You'll probably recognize it by the tunnel.
Besides the fact that Lower Alabama now has a Buc-ee's to take your money and your time and the fact they have gotten rid of some of the tolls on the roads you used to have to use to get to the beach there are even more improvements that guests from Louisiana will love when they make their annual summer sojourn to Orange Beach or Perdido Key in Alabama.
One of the things my beach trips of the past five decades have taught me is this, you can't count on the "beach" to keep your family entertained all the time you're there. So you need diversions. For us, The Wharf was always a good choice in Orange Beach. It had restaurants, activities, bars, and lots of shopping that made a day away from the beach better.
We have now learned that The Wharf will be adding a new anchor tenant and new attractions at the development known as Portside on Main. That project is currently under construction. And developers have just announced that one of the anchor tenants at Portside on Main will be Top Golf and their "Swing Suites". The swing suites at this new facility are supposed to be the largest on the Gulf Coast.
It is our understanding the new development will also add 33,000 square feet of retail, office, and entertainment space while including some 26,000 square feet of green and open space. The facility will also feature an outdoor stage. Completion of Portside on Main is anticipated to be in early 2025.
So Louisiana guests at the Gulf won't be able to enjoy the new additions on this year's beach trip but by next year, The Wharf and Portside on Main should be "happening" and we can't wait to see your pictures.
