The big news out of St. Martin Parish is the recent announcement that Le Café in Breaux Bridge will be reopening soon with new owners.

We brought you the news last November that the beloved eatery was closing after 35 years in business. Owner Ann Newland was shutting down to retire.

In a post on Facebook this past Sunday, it was announced that new proprietors were taking over the restaurant and an official opening date would be announced "very soon."

We'll keep tabs on this development and let you guys know when the opening will be so you can get back to enjoying those delicious fried seafood dishes, especially that fried catfish!

Other good news is the opening of the new location of Shane's Famous Quesadilla Burgers at 3822 West Congress Street in Lafayette.

The restaurant was previously located at 803 West Pinhook Road in Lafayette.

This location has housed multiple businesses in the past from the likes of Smitty's Wings to Pilots Sports Pub and a few others.

Shane's Famous Quesadilla Burgers specializes in burgers, tacos, fries, and more.

And finally, on a sadder note, there has been an Acadiana area restaurant that recently announced its closure.

The Southern Spread, located at 400 Charity Street in Abbeville, announced over the weekend that it would be permanently closing its doors.

The news isn't all bad for the owners as they've decided to pivot their business a bit.

According to the above Facebook post, they are still available for the following:

  • Catering
  • Private and community events, fairs, festivals, markets, etc.
  • Private chef services
  • Pepper jelly & Greek dressing orders
