Football fans of the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have just 85 days to wait. That's how many days it is from today before we will all gather under the shade of the oak tree at Cajun Field to cheer our Ragin Cajuns on to their first victory of the 2023 NCAA College Football Season.

The University of Louisiana Athletics Department revealed yesterday that fans wishing to support the program all season long may now purchase season ticket packages for the upcoming slate of six games planned for Lafayette's Cajun Field.

And if history has taught us anything we should expect an incredible season from this year's version of Cajun Football. The Cajuns will be led by an Acadiana product and former quarterback for the team Michael Desormeaux. Coach Desormeaux's Cajun squad for 2023 returns 41 letter winners. The team is also coming off its school-record fifth bowl game appearance as well.

Season ticket packages for the six-game home slate begin at a very reasonable $110.That price is for general admission seating. For those who are looking for a chairback seat and perhaps the best views of all the action, inside the 40-yard lines, you'll pay $295 for the season.

Needless to say, Cajun Athletics has created season packages for all fans and all budgets, the bottom line is they want your "bottom" to be in a seat at Cajun Field this fall.

Who Will the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Face at Home in Football in 2023?

The Cajun home games this year will kick off on September 2nd. That's when the Northwestern State Demons will invade The Swamp. The Demons finished third in the Southland Conference last year compiling an overall record of four wins against seven losses.

On September 23rd the Cajuns will welcome the "blue bulls" of the University at Buffalo to Cajun Field. The Bulls finished in second place in the Mid-American Conference last year. They had an overall record of seven wins against six losses. The Bulls are coming off a Camelia Bowl victory over Georgia Southern last year. They won that game 23 to 21, so they are no strangers to Sun Belt competition.

October 7th Louisiana will welcome their first Sun Belt Conference opponent to Lafayette when the Texas State Bobcats come calling. Texas State finished the 2022 football season with just two wins against eight losses. The Cajuns destroyed the Bobcats last year in San Marcos, the final score in that game was 41 to 13.

On October 21st the Georgia State Panthers will come to Cajun Field. The Panthers finished last year with an overall record of four wins against eight losses. The Cajuns and Georgia State did not play last year because they are in the Sun Belt's eastern division and the Cajuns are in the western division of the conference.

November 9th we fully expect Cajun Field to be rocking when the Southern Miss Golden Eagles come to town. The Cajuns and Eagles have slowly but surely been reestablishing a heated rivalry that has been in place since the middle 1980s. The rivalry cooled when the two programs went in different directions in different conferences in the 90s and early 2000s but it does look as if UL vs USM will become a hot ticket for Sun Belt football fans this year. The Golden Eagles finished last year's season with a record of seven wins against six losses including a win over Rice in the Lending Tree Bowl last season.

The home finale for Cajun Football will be a Saturday after Thanksgiving feast featuring roasted Warhawk. That's right the Cajuns will close out the 2023 season at home against the University of Louisiana-Monroe. The Warhawks finished last year with a record of four wins against eight losses. And you can bet the Cajuns will have revenge in mind considering the team from "up north" downed the Cajuns in Monroe last year by a score of 21 to 17.
