Powerball Confirms Louisiana Winner on Thanksgiving

A few lucky lottery players in Louisiana will have a little more to say grace over this Thanksgiving. That's because the Louisiana Lottery is reporting two big wins in recent days. One of those wins was a $100,000 prize that was earned by a Louisiana sold ticket for the Wednesday, November 22, 2023, drawing.

The other big money ticket from earlier in the week came from the Easy 5 game. That ticket earned a prize of $70,000. From what has been released by the Louisiana Lottery the $70,000 winner was sold in Gretna, Louisiana at the Lafayette Shell. That's the second time this month that Easy 5 has paid out a jackpot. The win earlier this month, on November 8th was for a jackpot of more than $334,000. That winning ticket was sold in Metairie.

For Wednesday's Powerball game the estimated top prize at the time the ping pong balls dropped was $316 million and some change. Here's the way the drawing played out for November 22, 2023.

You can confirm those numbers at the Powerball website. Last night's drawing created five instant millionaires. A ticket sold in New York did the Match 5 with the Powerplay option so that ticket is worth two million dollars. The other million dollar winners were sold in California, North Carolina, Florida, and Oregon.

The Texas Lottery is not reporting any wins in last night's Powerball game of more than $10,000 so it was a pretty quiet night for Powerball in the Lone Star State but in Louisiana there was a big money winner that was sold.

Lottery officials say the ticket matched four of the five white ball numbers. It also matched the Power Ball. The ticket purchaser also opted in on the Power Play of x2 so that ticket is worth $100,000 this morning.

The Louisiana Lottery has revealed that the big money winner was sold in Leesville, Louisiana. The winner was purchased at the Market Basket Grocery Store on North 6th Street. The winner will need to contact the nearest Louisiana Lottery Office to arrange for payment.
