Mega Millions Jackpot Gets Winner – Louisiana Players Win Big
The Mega Millions Lottery has revealed that after some 30+ games, there is finally a jackpot winner. Officials with Mega Millions have confirmed that a single ticket sold for last night's drawing matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize of $1.58 billion dollars.
That jackpot winner was not sold in Louisiana. This is not surprising since no Louisiana-sold ticket for Mega Millions has ever claimed the game's top prize. But that doesn't mean Louisiana's lottery players didn't cash in on last night's drawing.
If you didn't see last night's Mega Millions drawing, here's how it unfolded.
As you can see the numbers that dropped out of the hopper were:
13 19 20 32 33 Mega Ball 14 Megaplier x2
According to the official Mega Millions site, a single ticket sold in the state of Florida matched all of those numbers and can lay claim to the game's jackpot which was estimated to be $1.58 billion at the time the drawing occurred.
The Texas Lottery is confirming two one-million-dollar winners were sold in the Lone Star State for Tuesday's drawing. Those million-dollar winners were sold in Austin and in Socorro. If you're not familiar with Texas geography, Socorro Texas is a suburb of El Paso.
Meanwhile, the Louisiana Lottery is confirming at least two big wins in last night's Mega Millions game for players in Louisiana. In both cases, the Louisiana-sold tickets matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball.
One of the ticket purchasers did not opt-in on the Megaplier so their prize will be $10,000. The other Louisiana winner did opt-in on the Megaplier and their prize is $20,000.
Louisiana Lottery officials have confirmed the big-money winners were sold in Denham Springs and in Alexandria. The jackpot for the Mega Millions game will now return to its starting amount of $20 million for Friday's drawing.
A lottery player in Hammond was a big winner in last Friday's Mega Millions game. The Louisiana Lottery did reveal that a one million dollar winning ticket was sold for the August 4th drawing at the Quick Way #5 on West University in that city. As of now, no one has stepped forward to claim that prize.
If you're still dreaming of becoming an instant millionaire then Powerball is where you should focus your attention tonight. The estimated jackpot for that drawing will be $170 million dollars. That's the annuitized amount, the lump sum cash payout would be $83.4 million.
Don't forget there will also be a Lotto drawing and an Easy 5 drawing in Louisiana tonight too. The Lotto jackpot is $1.4 million and Easy 5 features a top prize of at least $60,000 for Wednesday's drawing.
