Mardi Gras 2024 May Be Rough on Your Liver and Wallet — Here’s Why
I know we literally just got done with Mardi Gras but I have something interesting to tell you in just a bit regarding next year's celebration.
Right now though, some of us are observing the Lenten season with prayer, fasting, and almsgiving...and eating lots of seafood.
And then there are others merely just looking for the next party, which happens to be St. Patrick's Day, and perhaps a little Patty in the Parc mixed in there.
But if you really want to start looking for a party, go all the way to next February and check out when Mardi Gras Day 2024 falls.
Okay, I'll save you the Google search -- it's February 13.
Think about that for a second. We celebrate Mardi Gras one day (and many days before that) and then the very next day is Valentine's Day.
To quote the dearly departed TV pitchman Billy Mays: "But wait there's more!" On Sunday, February 11, 2024, it's Super Bowl Sunday.
Our friend Paula Dugas took this all exactly one step further:
Yes, the Youngsville Parade with its 130+ floats and its nearly three-hour roll time will warm up our livers before the aforementioned trifecta of big days.
Y'all, we are going to be so broke and our poor livers are going to be so shot come February 15th!
But at least we can have a nice seafood dinner with our honey on Valentine's Day. Let's hope crawfish isn't $200 a sack at that time next year!
Don't say you weren't warned. Start preparing your inner organs now and let us be the first to wish you a Happy 2024 Super Bowldi Gras Valentine's Days!!
