(KMDL-FM) - The calendar has flipped over to October, and we are in full holiday mode for the rest of the year. First up, of course, is Halloween.

We're clearly all ready for any of those to invade us, equipped to ward them all off should they decide to invade our lives. But what about zombies? Are we ready to fight for survival should a relentless horde of them decide to try and attack us?

What Makes a State Zombie-Ready

In the spirit of the Halloween season, we're thankful for the folks at CanadaCasino, who have done the math to see which states are the best fit and prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Essential Supplies for Zombie Prep in Louisiana

It appears though the fact that we have a good bit of water in the state is helpful in the fight against zombies, along with the number of community hospitals per 100,000 people, plus our higher number of hunting stores.

Topping the list is Alaska as the most apocalypse-ready state, with a population density of just one person per square mile and 67.4 hunting stores per 100,000 people.

Which State is Most Ill-Prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse?

On the other end of the spectrum is New Jersey. If a zombie apocalypse were to hit, the Garden State would be the worst place to attempt to ride it out. With the highest population density in the U.S., controlling outbreaks would be dang near impossible. The state scored 1.66 out of 10 overall.
