Sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana have confirmed the news that was shared by Powerball late Wednesday night. That news? We have a winner. A single ticket purchased for the July 3, 2024, Powerball drawing has matched the numbers needed to claim the game's jackpot prize.

When compared to recent history last night's Powerball win was "quick". The most recent previous jackpot winner in the game came less that one month ago. There was a jackpot winner for the June 12th drawing. That ticket earned a top prize of $222.6 million. The winning ticket on June 12th was purchased in New Jersey.

But that was then and this is now. Wednesday's Powerball game featured an estimated annuitized jackpot of $139.3 million. Here is how that drawing unfolded.

The numbers that we saw rolling out of the hopper last night were:

02   26   33   55   57   Powerball 22     Power Play x2

Use those as a reference but please verify your tickets and your winnings at the Official Louisiana Lottery Website or the Official Powerball Website.  Those sites allow you to check multiple ticket numbers. And, they can offer you official information on prize redemption should you happen to be holding a winning ticket.

Louisiana's last big Powerball win came on June 5th of this year when a ticket sold in Houma cashed in for a $150,000 win. And yes that winner has been claimed but there is a $50,000 winning ticket from the January 20th drawing that will expire in two weeks if it's not claimed. So if you played Powerball in January and purchased a ticket at Diaz Market in Mandeville, the clock is ticking.

Last night's big winner of $139.3 million purchased their Powerball ticket in Ohio. There were three Match 5 Million winners generated by last night's drawing as well. Two of the million dollar winners were sold in California. The other million dollar winner came from Pennsylvania.
