The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has revealed some very important information that duck hunters across Louisiana and the Gulf South will want to be aware. As we are transitioning from the late summer into the fall and winter outdoorsmen in the Sportsman's Paradise have been patiently waiting for guidance from LDWF regarding the 2024/2025 hunting season.

Our sources at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife have revealed the most important facts that hunters across Louisiana will want to know. Namely, when does the season start? And what parts of the state can we hunt first?

In a press release, LDWF informed us so we could inform you that the 2024 Louisiana Duck Hunting Season will begin this weekend in the West Zone. The weekend will kick off with a youth-only hunt. The following weekend, November 9th, the first split of the season will open.

For hunters in the East Zone, the youth-veterans-only hunt will be on November 9th. The first split of the season will be the following weekend November 16th.

To see the complete list of dates for the season in both the East Zone and the West Zone you may follow this link provided by LDWF. We should note that all waterfowl hunters aged 16 and older are required to have a Federal Duck Stamp. Even if they are not required to purchase a license.

Those hunters 18 years of age and older will need a basic hunting license and be HIP or Harvest Information Program Certified. You can find out more about those certifications and how to secure your hunting license online via the LDWF portal.
