(KMDL-FM) Delta Downs is ready for racing, and this season the Vinton, Louisiana, track is making some major changes to when we can watch, wager, and win. The 20-week meet will feature live racing Wednesday through Saturday, with perhaps the biggest change of all: a brand new post time.

Delta Downs New Thoroughbred Season Features an Earlier Post Time

Post time for the first race of the day will now be at 4:40 PM. The earlier post time will be advantageous for racing fans since the earlier post time will allow for more exposure for players who wager via simulcast.

Tonight's opening night post time will be at 4:40 PM, as will the post time for Saturday's races. Then the track will go to its regular Wednesday through Saturday schedule. The exceptions to this will be during the week of Thanksgiving, the week of Christmas, and the week of New Year's.

The 2026-27 meet at Delta Downs will feature a multitude of stakes races as well. How about two dozen races on the schedule with purses in excess of $2 million. In fact there will be a couple of $100,000 races on opening weekend. The Magnolia for fillies and mares will run on Friday.
