Comfort Food Favorite Comes to Louisiana Taco Bell Restaurants
Comfort food. I guess how you define it depends on where you come from. In Louisiana, you might think our comfort foods would be red beans and rice, gumbo, and anything that can be fried and served with alcohol. Yeah, we tend to get really comfortable here in Louisiana.
That doesn't mean other parts of the country and the world don't have their variations on comfort foods either. Lord knows I can get really comfortable with chicken fried (or is it country fried?) steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy. But I am guessing that at no time in your life when someone mentioned the phrase "comfort food" did you think of Taco Bell?
A large majority of us tend to think of Taco Bell as "uncomfortable food". Maybe because of the volatility of the ingredients and the way they're put together? It's never good when you use the word volatility to describe a meal, is it? Now, don't get me wrong. I, like you, eat at Taco Bell on a regular basis. I like their food but I don't view it as comfort food, at least in the traditional sense. But maybe that's about to change.
Taco Bell's New Burrito Features a Flavor Louisiana Loves
Let's see if you can figure out what Taco Bell is adding to their new steak burrito that is a flavor that is very connected to Louisiana tastes in food. It's an ingredient we add to a lot of Louisiana dishes. It's an ingredient that a lot of other fast-food restaurants offer. It's the one ingredient that "makes everything better". You're right. It's bacon.
While pork is a traditional ingredient in Mexican cuisine, it's very seldom you see bacon used in dishes like burritos or tacos. Okay, they do it for breakfast but this is about the after 10:30 menu. And now you can get your bacon fix in the Taco Bell Steak and Bacon Grilled Cheese Burrito. It's got marinated steak, potatoes, chipotle sauce, cheese, and more with bacon grilled on top.
So, what do people think about adding bacon to their Mexican favorites?
Well, this influencer on Instagram was over the moon about the new burrito. The new menu item was launched very quietly nationwide and sells for $5.99. You can also get that in a combo for $8.99 if you're so inclined. If you're interested in the health aspect of the new Steak and Bacon Grilled Cheese Burrito it runs about 700 calories. Or just under a third of the suggested caloric intake for an adult male.
We checked Taco Bell's online menu and if you search for burritos you will find the new Steak and Bacon Grilled Cheese Burrito is listed first. It also has a note that says it's for a "Limited Time". I guess we'll see how it sells to see just how limited that "time" will be.
