Blue Bayou Waterpark in Baton Rouge to Open May 30
It has been a tumultuous last few years for Blue Bayou Dixie Landin' in Baton Rouge. But, the owners recently shared a little good news for kids in south Louisiana looking to "beat the heat" this summer.
According to their website, Blue Bayou Water Park will open on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 11:00 am.
This is great news considering that just a few weeks ago the facility's website said that the park would remain closed for the summer of 2023. It read in part: "We look forward to seeing you in the summer of 2024," the message went on to say.
Now, the less fortunate news is that Dixie Landin' will remain closed. (This is the part that mainly houses the amusement rides and games.)
Blue Bayou will be open daily from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm through August 8, 2023. They will then open on Saturdays and Sundays only, through and including Labor Day.
The caveat to the re-opening sounds like a continued staffing issue. A note on their website reads: "Some attractions may be modified, limited in capacity, and subject to availability."
For those of us who love the "Land of the Giants," we'll gladly take that trade-off.
If you're looking for a summer job, or know someone who is, Blue Bayou might be an option.
According to a social media post, they are looking for lifeguards who are at least 15 years of age.
Daily admission to Blue Bayou Water Park for Summer 2023 is as follows:
- $49.99 - Guests 48" and taller
- $39.99 - Guests 48" and under & Senior Citizens (60 years and older)
- Free - Guests 35" and under
All-day parking is $5.00 per vehicle.
