Large in Louisiana: 12 Record Worthy Things to Consider

(KMDL-FM) When it comes to bragging rights, "larger" is usually the statistic that wins the prize. Here in Louisiana, we have a lot of larger-than-life things that certainly do make people talk. We asked around and collected a dozen "Louisiana's Largest," but let's just say, like our state, our categories are "Only in Louisiana".

Now, we are not suggesting that you can only find these 12 "inspirations" in Louisiana; instead, we are simply suggesting that our Louisiana versions of "large" might be different than the definitions used by other states or the "beer brewing" book of records.

Where is Louisiana's Largest Buffet and the State's Biggest Eating Challenge?

Our selection of what's " Big in the Boot" topics ranged from food, like where is the largest buffet and what is Louisiana's largest food challenge, to everyday annoyances like "the largest waste of time" in Louisiana.

We looked at speed traps and casinos, and oddly enough, those two categories are bound together in a very unique way. We also looked at Louisiana lifestyle, which means we have the largest collection of trophy deer in the state, and the largest resort in the state where concealed carry laws will never apply.

We also took a wicked, evil, and mean-spirited look at one particular sports team and the legions of fans who might want to consider changing sports altogether. It also gave us a chance to poke fun at three Louisiana towns that think they're a part of Texas.

Sure, it's good-natured kidding, but I think our state leads the nation in trash talk too. Or at least some of the larger trash talkers are here. I'm looking at you, Coach Kiffin.
