In the heart of downtown Lafayette, Louisiana you can find a place that just might be the location of our city's soul. It's a building that houses some of Lafayette and South Louisiana's most incredible performances, dreams, and interpretations. And best of all it's there and it's maintained because of people like you.

I am speaking of the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The AcA as we call it here locally was founded in 1975 and its purpose is to support and foster the arts culture in South Louisiana. And when you consider just how important art, music, painting, sculpture, and dance are to South Louisiana it's only natural that we have such a fine facility to host performances and exhibits.

Serving the eight parish region made up of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St Landry, St Martin, St Mary, and Vermilion Parishes the AcA gives our working creatives an outlet to share their talents. Plus with a state-of-the-art facility such as the AcA, it's no wonder national and international performers love to perform there as well.

One way you can support the mission and the purpose of the AcA and support art in South Louisiana is to become active in the many series, shows, exhibits, and performances hosted at the facility on Vermilion Street.  Here's an example of what you can expect at the AcA during its 2024 performance season.

What is the Acadiana Center for the Arts All-Star Series?

As the name implies this series presented by the AcA in 2024 will be electric. Okay, it won't be plugged in performances all the time but performers such as J.D. McPherson and folk artist Patty Griffin you're sure to find something to love. The series also includes Brian Blades and Buffalo Nichols plus other rising stars. The AllStar Series is as diverse as it is unique and it's uniquely available for you at the AcA.

What is the Acadiana Center for the Arts Louisiana Crossroads Series?

This series shines the spotlight on homegrown and homemade Louisiana talent that have spread their wings and taken on the world. The 2024 AcA series includes a reunion show entitled "50 Years of BeauSoleil" and an appearance by the legendary Irma Thomas. And we're just scratching the surface with those two names. If you love Louisiana music and culture you can't miss the Louisiana Crossroads Series at the AcA in 2024.

Does the Acadiana Center for the Arts Feature Comedy?

The short answer is "yes". And the better answer is "it's not just comedy it's some of the top comedic acts in the nation". Once again in 2024, the AcA will present its Comedy Club Series. Among the names mentioned for the 2024 performances are those of Paula Poundstone, Emo Philips, Laurie Kilmartin, and Dulce Sloan.

The NXT Series at the Acadiana Center for the Arts Supports Emerging Artists

For many performers and artists, just having a stage to perform on or an audience to play to is all they want to grow their careers. The AcA's NXT Series is all about that. The series will encompass emerging performers in a variety of genres giving those artists a place to be seen and a place to be heard. This is one of the benefits of having such an amazing organization, such as the Acadiana Center for the Arts in town.

The AcA Listening Room with the Acadiana Symphony Returns in 2024

This series will truly spotlight the technological wonder that is the James Devin Moncus Theater. There is no better venue to hear live music in Lafayette or Louisiana for that matter than this facility. The "Listening Room" with ASO will feature three European-style concerts in the round. And I can promise you that you will hear things you have never heard before.
