Officials with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office say they found a man dead at a home where they were going to serve a search warrant.

Acadia Parish narcotics agents were going to a home in the 3200 block of the Egan Highway in that town to serve a search warrant. As they were going into the home one man was seen running away.

The person was caught while running away from deputies.

Another man who was in the home while deputies were moving in shot himself.

Law enforcement officials did try life-saving measures, and then the man was taken to the hospital but died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both uniformed officers and narcotics agents were on the scene of the situation when all of this happened.

They discovered the second man as they were going through the process of clearing the house.

Acadia Parish Sheriff officials say the investigation of this case is ongoing.

They will only release information as the investigation allows.
