(Scott, LA) - The Kiwanis Club of Scott is asking for donations of teddy bears for their drive to benefit children in the burn unit at Our Lady of Lourdes. The teddy bears will bring joy and comfort to children while they recover.

Members of the Scott Kiwanis Club will be donating bears, and they are asking for the public's participation as well. Once collected, the teddy bears will be delivered to the Pediatric Burn Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes.

The Teddy Bear Drive Is All About Bringing Comfort to Kids

Kiwanis Club of Scott President Caleb Lege tells us,

This is the first year the Kiwanis Club of Scott is doing this drive. This was a project from a previous club, and we wanted to bring it back. Kiwanis International is all about the kids. Our hope is to help bring a smile to a young person, especially in their time going through a traumatic experience.

Lege says he really loves this program because it provides comfort to children during one of the most difficult times in their lives. He says a teddy bear may seem like something small, but for a kid recovering from a serious burn, it can offer a sense of security, companionship, and hope.

If you want to make a positive difference in the life of a child working to recover, you can donate a bear to bring a smile to their face.

Kiwanis Club President's Fond Memory of a Teddy Bear

When asked about whether or not Lege had a teddy bear as a kid, Lege shared,

I definitely had a favorite bear as a child. His name was Lee, and my mom says he was a gift to my sister when she was born, but I wouldn't part with it. I had him well into my teenage years, but he got lost in one of my moves.
